The Vatican has clarified that Pope Francis’ brief meeting with Kim Davis “should not be considered a form of support of her position in all of its particular and complex aspects.”
On this trip he met quite a few different people to the best of my knowledge, also in Cuba. But this doesn’t mean that the pope is fully briefed on whom he is meeting.
Popes meet lots of people for lots of reasons. Not to put too fine a point on it, but Pope Francis also met Mark Wahlberg, and that does not mean that he liked “Ted.”
